Acadian Ambulance Chairman & CEO Richard Zuschlag recorded this video today as a special message to our Acadian employees. We want to share it with the public as well.

“In the past 12 days, we’ve witnessed scenes of unimaginable destruction and loss as Hurricane Harvey, making landfall not once, but three times, devastated everything in its path.

As the water rose, many of the communities we call home – Humble to Galveston to Orange and everywhere in between – were in desperate need of help. And you responded, with bravery, compassion, and professionalism.

Our front-line crews and dispatchers, supervisory staff and support teams – some who had lost everything in the storm — worked together seamlessly. Every division at Acadian, from Air Med to ATS and SMS, was involved, lending their hard work and expertise to the rescue and relief effort. No matter the situation or the circumstances, you never lost sight of our mission of taking care of patients and customers and saving lives. You got the job done, you got it done right, and I couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of you.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to say THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart to everyone who had a hand in helping out. It is difficult for me to keep up with the details of everyone’s involvement, and even harder to be able to thank all of you by name with the praise and recognition you deserve, however, my sentiment is no less sincere. I have often said that I surround myself with good people and it is now abundantly clear that those good people have done the same.

Now it’s time to turn our attention to the members of our Acadian family who need our assistance. Here are three ways employees can help:

· Contribute to the Acadian Employee Emergency Relief Fund (this fund drive is now closed).

· Volunteer for a work crew to help those whose homes were damaged or destroyed.

· Acadian employees are encouraged to join the Acadian Cares – Volunteer & Relief Efforts closed Facebook group. This page serves as a way to organize requests for help and provide useful information.

Through these efforts, I’m confident that we’ll be able to make a difference in the lives of our colleagues. Working together, we’ll remain Acadian Proud and Texas Strong.”
