Following a competitive proposal process with three ambulance services, Acadian Ambulance was selected to continue providing EMS service to Ouachita Parish and the cities of Monroe and West Monroe.
On July 17, the Ouachita Parish Ambulance Advisory Committee reviewed the three proposals and unanimously recommended renewing a contract with Acadian Ambulance. With the Ouachita Council of Governments acceptance of the recommendation on July 27, a new contract will take effect by December 31, 2026, with no gap in services.

We are part of this community, from investing in workforce development and training our residents, to our dedicated commitment to being a part of the success of Ouachita Parish.”
Acadian Ambulance and Air Med began operating in Ouachita Parish on January 1, 2019, providing ground and air ambulance service. Additionally, Acadian is involved in joint training and exercises with fellow first responders; provides community education on CPR and Stop the Bleed, among others; provides standby medical service at football games and many other community events; and provides EMT and paramedic training through its National EMS Academy.
Acadian plans to bring mobile integrated healthcare services to Ouachita Parish through its sister division, Acadian Health. In partnership with hospitals, healthcare organizations, and MCOs, Acadian Health’s MIH services are designed to improve the health of communities, decrease the overall cost of healthcare through education and navigation to appropriate services; and improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
