Acadian Employee Emergency Relief Fund

September 6, 2017-The unprecedented rainfall caused by Hurricane Harvey led to flooding and destruction of thousands of homes.  Many of these homes were in areas not prone to flooding and where residents felt confident that their property was not in danger.  As a result, many did not carry flood insurance.

As a result of the storm, more than 50 members of the Acadian EMS family suffered substantial damage, or the total loss, of their homes. In the majority of cases, these employees left their homes and reported to work as the storm was approaching. They were needed to help others in distress and they answered the call.

Working around the clock for many days, they returned to their homes and families only to find the devastating effects of the storm and flood waters.

Acadian is supporting these dedicated public servants with help for immediate needs and is currently working on several other employee assistance programs.  However, due to the volume of damage caused, more is needed.  Many of our partners have asked how they can help the first responders. The ones who put their lives on the line to help others.  The ones who sacrificed their own personal comfort and safety to help others.

To answer this call, Acadian has set up the “Acadian Employee Emergency Relief Fund” for those wishing to help our first responders.  The funds will be collected and administered through the Community Foundation of Acadiana, a highly respected philanthropy organization.

While Acadian continues to implement several support initiatives, we are asking that you help us by posting the link to the Community Foundation’s “Acadian Employee Emergency Relief Fund” page on your website(s) and social media platforms.

**UPDATE** This fund drive is now closed. Thank you for your support!
