Acadian Ambulance’s Louisiana and Mississippi operations recently earned a perfect score in the reaccreditation review from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS).
CAAS was established to encourage, promote and recognize quality patient care in America’s medical transportation system. Accreditation signifies that an agency has met the industry’s highest standards, which often exceed state or local regulations.
The accreditation review, similar to the rigorous process used by hospitals and nursing facilities, is conducted every three years and includes an intensive application process and a multi-day on-site inspection by outside experts. Reviewers from across the nation visited the company’s Louisiana and Mississippi service areas, including Acadian’s newest operations area — Harrison County, MS.
Acadian Ambulance has been CAAS-accredited since 1995. It is one of two ambulance services in Louisiana, one of two in Mississippi, one of 12 in Texas and one of approximately 170 in the nation to have earned CAAS accreditation.
Acadian Ambulance’s Texas operations were separately reaccredited by CAAS in 2022.
“Although it’s not required for operation, we seek CAAS accreditation because it represents the gold standard in EMS and helps ensure accountability to our patients and healthcare partners,” said Acadian Ambulance President Justin Back. “The reviewers noted that our equipment, training, technology, and fleet are ‘leading the industry’ and are ‘top-notch.’”
