After retiring, Gifford decided to enter 3D printing. He’s creating everything from life-sized displays to custom tools, all from his home workshop.
One of his proudest projects? A massive Grinch display that he made after finding a design online. What started as a small Max the dog figure turned into Cindy Lou Who, then finally the Grinch himself—who ended up being over six feet tall.
“I didn’t think this through because it doesn’t come apart, so now I’ve got a bit of a storage issue,” he said. “But once I posted on Facebook, people started asking if they could borrow them.”
Gifford’s Grinch creations have made their rounds, from a children’s event in Baton Rouge to a Grinch-themed birthday party, and even a display at his grandson’s school.
He has also made custom 3D-printed Christmas ornaments for his grandkids, and even a few tools. He used his printer to create a special tool for removing solar panel cables, saving him from having to buy one.
“You are truly unlimited by your imagination,” Gifford said. His passion for 3D printing continues to grow and we can’t wait to see what he creates next.
Gifford remains connected to Acadian, staying in touch with many of our current and former team members.
