Elizabeth Lacy, a resident of LaPlace, Louisiana, worked as a paramedic in the Bayou Region from 2006 to 2013.
Elizabeth started at Acadian as an EMT and then attended the National EMS Academy, where she obtained her paramedic license. During her time with Acadian, she became a CPR instructor and was part of the preceptor program and the peer CISD team.
“I worked on U31 in Lutcher for most of my tenure. However, I also worked in St. John Parish,” Elizabeth said. “I provided ALS service in a rural community and did what I could to educate and reach the community.”
Elizabeth said the best part about working for Acadian was always the people.
“I made lifelong friendships that I still have today,” Elizabeth said. “I also enjoyed giving back to the community I once lived in and knowing I was making a difference daily.”
Elizabeth’s favorite Acadian memory is working standby for the Tour de Louisiane, an annual bicycle race throughout Southeast Louisiana. She says her time in Cocodrie after the oil spill in 2010 was also unforgettable.
Elizabeth said the support she received from Acadian following a family tragedy is something she will never forget.
“Having my whole Acadian family show up and support me after my sister’s death—all of these things and so much more make me remember Acadian fondly,” Elizabeth said.
Elizabeth is currently the EMS Outreach Coordinator at the University Medical Center in New Orleans.
“I love that I can stay in contact and continue to connect with all of my field operations folks from across Southeast Louisiana in this position,” Elizabeth said.
Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family and two children.
“We enjoy family adventure days, visiting various museums, and traveling,” Elizabeth said.
